Rattlesnake population rebounds in the county

CALIFORNIA, Calaveras County RCD – Just a year ago, snake sightings were down and rodent populations grew out of control throughout the county. But predators have rebounded as the summer sun replaces what’s left of the winter chill, and the reptiles emerge from hibernation. They are particularly noticeable at this time of year because so many are coming out of hibernation around the same time, said Gordon Long, executive director of the Calaveras Resource Conservation District.
